Visiting and becoming a member of North Oxon Field Target Club

For prospective New Members

The ‘Bulldogs’ are a friendly club with many years of advice and guidance available from our members and as such we welcome visitors to the club by arrangement.

As we do not offer a ‘turn up and shoot’ facility, we ask that you contact us before making your first visit so we can ensure someone is available to welcome you and arrange your safety and induction session. Induction sessions are held at 9:30 am on the 2nd Sunday of each month and you will not be able to shoot at the club until you have completed an induction session. Children must be 10 years or older to qualify for membership and must be accompanied by an Adult (over  21) at all times.

Your first visit is free and after a compulsory safety and induction session, held by one of our senior members, you will be able to shoot at some targets under supervision.

To become a member, you will need to attend the club on a minimum of 4 visits within a 12 week period of your first visit. Your first visit counts towards the 4 visits. The subsequent 3 visits will incur a £5 charge for each visit (£2.50 for juniors) which also covers insurance. You must sign-in on arrival and pay your fee to any available committee member on site.  Following your 4th visit, you can complete an application form which may be approved on the day. Once approved, you will become a full member and benefit from the club’s full facilities which include –

  •  ‘Dawn to Dusk’ everyday access to our Zeroing range (Members Only – strictly with valid club photo ID card)
  •  Access to the members area on our website.
  • Use of the Club’s Air Compressor to refill bottles
  • Participation in Club Competitions

Annual Membership costs are £75 for adults, £30 for Juniors (Between ages of 10 to 18) and £40 for concession (over 65’s)

Tips

  • If you are new to Air Rifle shooting, speak to our knowledgeable members before making any significant Air Rifle purchases.
  • As we are an outdoor club, wear appropriate outdoor clothing depending on the weather.
  • When parking down the lane, please park with consideration. This is a public road.
  • When carrying Air Rifles or Air Pistols from your vehicle to the club, ensure they are in Gun Slips / Cases as you will be walking on both a public road and public footpath. This is required by law.
  • If approaching by car from the Ardley / Fewcot direction, take care regarding oncoming traffic when driving over the narrow railway bridge. Also please slow down for any Horse riders.
  • We are all approachable people. Never be afraid to ask a question !
